I’ve been to Boston a couple of times for both work (tough gig!) and on holiday. The following is a list of places I’d recommend checking out!
Hotels
- Canopy Boston Downtown. Stayed here everytime. Nice rooms, great neighbourhood, and a cool market just opposite perfect for breafkast!
Bars
- Anchovies great neighbourhood bar that does a KILLER martini! Food isn’t that bad either.
- The Sevens Ale House small pub in Beacon Hill with a good range of draft beers and a nice lunch selection.
- Ward 8 nice bar just near TD Garden. Good bar food, and a nice frozen martini!
- The Point Boston lively pub right next to the Canopy Hotel. Good beer and wine selection, with good selection of TV’s for sport.
- Monument Charlestown Tavern nice pub in Charlestown perfect for if you’ve walked here on the Freedom Trail. Good range of beers, and great pizza and skillet wings!
- Backbar cool cocktail bar in Summerville.
- Oak Long Bar clasic hotel cocktail bar in the Fairmont. Good cocktails, and the food looked good. Reservations not required if happy (and can find a spot) to sit at the bar.
Brew Pubs
- Sam Adams Downtown if you like Sam Adams this is a must visit. Great roop top terrace for alfresco beers!
- Dorchester Brewing Companny cracking brew pub, with a awesome fried chicken pop up. Also has shuffleboard, and houses the “Museum of Bad Art”.
- Harpoon Brewery massive brew pub near Boston Harbour. Serves tasty pretzels.
- Trilium - Fort Point number of venues across Boston, but really like this one. Nice roof top terrace, along with a patio out front. Does a pretty decent smash burger!
- Night Shift Brewing - Lovejoy Wharf cracking brew pub on the water next to TD Garden. Decent beers, and massive pretzels!
Food
- The Red Fox great restaurant and bar in North End. Cocktails are amazing, as is the food. Although be warned - the portions are huge! Hard to find, look for the red fox on a door!
- Bacco Ristorante and Bar great italian restaurant in North End. Tasty pasta, good wine, and the cocktails are pretty decent. Also has a nice bar you can hang out in.
- Sunny Girl good North End breakfast spot.
- The Dubliner Irish Bar nice irish bar that does a great irish breakfast. Apparently the sunday roast is also pretty good.
- The Paramount good breakfast spot in Beacon Hill.
- Dali awesome Tapas bar in Somerville. Great drinks and delicious food!
- Abe and Louie’s classic steak restaurant. Delicious food, and well priced wine.
- Time Out Market good selection of food stalls and bars. Safe option if in the neighbourhood!
- North Street Grille good breakfast diner in North End. Gets busy so reservations (!) recommended!
- Boston Public Market good food martket opposite the Canopy Hotel. Nice breakfast options. Also has a couple of bars, but not tried them
